Nurse Coders are certified and combine experience from nursing with knowledge of medical billing and documentation. They have first hand experience with many medical procedures that helps them easily translate complex medical procedures into codes that traditional coders may find difficult to understand. In most settings, nurses work alongside physicians, making documentation querying and communication less awkward for physicians. Nurse auditors can detect irregular, redundant, missing or fraudulent documentation and codes, ensuring your organization is not fined or booted from the network.
